EYES project started: Empowering Youth through Entrepreneurial Skills
Thanks to its Impact Program, Tilburg University has become a partner in a new European project to develop coaching for young people who do not have a job and are not in any form of education or training. The project is called EYES: Empowering Youth through Entrepreneurial Skills. The City of Tilburg is participating as well.
The diversity and splendor of language and culture
Language is the ideal connector of people and knowledge, and culture is the mold in which language is cast. Consider: what are the conventions and how do we interact with each other? On December 6, the Language and Culture Afternoon demonstrated how thorny and “bad” language can be and how perplexing, glorious, and diverse culture is.

In the 2019 Times Higher Education Subject Rankings Tilburg University has been ranked amongst the best universities in the world in its three major academic fields: Business & Economics, Law, and Psychology. Tilburg University is maintaining her position in the Top 20 in Europe and currently holds a position in the Top 50 worldwide.
In memoriam Koen Jaspaert (1956-2017)
Last Friday, September 8th, Koen Jaspaert passed away from the effects of ALS. He was 61 years old.

Mark Brandt to receive SAGE Young Scholar Award
Mark Brandt recently received the SAGE Young Scholar Award at the Congress of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology in Atlanta, USA. Mark is an associate professor at the Department of Social Psychology at the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB). His research examines how ideological and moral beliefs – such as political ideology, religious fundamentalism, and moral conviction – influence attitudes and behaviors and provide people with meaning.

As of today the new Tilburg University Economics Ranking is available. It covers publications during the timeframe 2013-2017. Our university is currently ranked at position 38 worldwide, and shared 14/15 in Europe.

On April 4, 2019, the conference: “De patiënt centraal in oncologiezorg: Organisatie doet er toe” will take place on our University campus. All presentations concern applied research on the organization of oncology care.
Module 'Sociology' at IMC Weekendschool Tilburg
For the second year in a row, 45 12-year old children from deprived neighborhoods in Tilburg participated in the module 'Sociology' of the IMC Weekendschool. This module, consisting of six lessons, was developed and taught by Inge Sieben and Tom Swelsen (both Dept. Sociology) with the help of eleven volunteer-students.
Xmas Speech Jantine Schuit: Together Shaping the Future of TSB
Jantine Schuit, Dean TSB, looks back and ahead after hundred days in office. At the TSB Christmas Drinks on 21 December, Jantine presented her findings based on the many talks she had with the management of all departments and many individual staff members. Increased Prevalence of Depression, Anxiety after Colorectal Cancer
The prevalence of depression and anxiety are increased among survivors of colorectal cancer (CRC), according to a study by Floortje Mols c.s. published in the scientific journal Cancer.
Greyston CEO visits Resilience Community Impact Program to discuss open hiring model
A pioneering social enterprise, Greyston has been providing jobs to people in New York who face barriers to employment, no questions asked, since 1982. Without any checks or interviews Greyston hires the next person on the waiting list with the aim to give people a chance who normally don’t. “An inclusive economy begins with removing unconscious bias,” explains President and CEO Mike Brady. He visited the Impact Program’s Resilience Community to explore common goals and ways to cooperate.
Professor dr. Geert Duijsters new Dean Tilburg School of Economics and Management
As of January 1st, 2019, the Executive Board of Tilburg University has appointed Prof. dr. Geert Duijsters as Dean of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TISEM). Geert Duijsters is currently Vice-Dean of Research and a full professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at TISEM. As Dean he will be the successor of Professor Lex Meijdam.
