The Social Innovation Project

Go out into the real world

Social Innovation is a hot topic. The world is in need of new interdisciplinary solutions for challenges our society is facing. University College Tilburg offers a chance to contribute to Social Innovation during your studies

Social and innovative entrepreneurship

The Social Innovation Project is all about social and innovative entrepreneurship. The project introduces you to the foundations of social innovation and combines your enthusiasm and innovative ideas with cutting edge theory on social business. You will identify a social challenge, while working in a small group of students across different majors. Together you will design a social innovation project (based in the city of Tilburg) and put your ideas into practice.

You will get the latest insights from guest lecturers from both in- and outside of Tilburg University. During the project you are supervised by expert coaches from companies in the Tilburg region, a collaboration that will be beneficial for your future career. The process teaches you core skills needed to launch and develop your own project or business idea. Experience the success of seeing your initiative impact the real world.

Who participated before you?

Previous runs of the Social Innovation Project resulted in a broad range of ideas, such as a drugs simulation showing high school students the do’s and don’ts of drugs, a pop-up restaurant designed to draw attention to food waste, a platform for people to share their skills, and a social gathering to increase people’s understanding of different cultures. Other projects include strengthening relationships between demented elderly people and their family members, helping children growing up in poverty develop their full potential, and improving daycare for adults with a mental disability.

When can I participate?

The Social Innovation Project runs in the second semester of the third year and is limited to 20 students.
