Two students studying

German Upper-Intermediate

This course is the continuation of the German Intermediate course and expands your repertoire. All skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) are covered, but the emphasis is on productive skills. You will reinforce your skills both orally and in writing.

You will learn how to understand and produce increasingly complex texts and sentences by paying attention to specific features of German. The course also focuses on the differences and similarities between your own culture and that of German-speaking countries.

At the end of the course, you will have reached level B1+ (between B1 and B2). You will then be able to:

  • understand extended talks and presentations and follow complex arguments, if the topic is somewhat familiar;
  • read articles and reports on contemporary problems in which the writers express specific beliefs;
  • give a short, clear presentation and actively participate in discussions in which you present and substantiate your own views;
  • express your views on complex issues;
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of German-speaking countries and make them comprehensible to others to facilitate communication.

If you do not know what level you should sign up for, you can do a level test to get an indication of your language level.
