Two students studying

German for beginners 2

This course is the continuation of German for beginners 1 and provides a broader foundation. All skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) are covered in roughly equal measure, but the emphasis is on oral communication.

The practice activities focus on practical and realistic situations that occur in student life or in a professional work environment. This makes the lessons immediately applicable. Cultural topics are also covered during the lessons.

By the end of the course, you will have reached level A2 of the European Framework of Reference. You will then be able to:

  • communicate in simple, routine situations involving the exchange of information on familiar and common topics such as work, studies, travel, shopping, house-hunting, etc.;
  • exchange past events, life experiences, and opinions;
  • making plans for your leisure, work, and studies (countries, overnight stays, sights of a city, describing routes...);
  • going to the doctor: stating health complaints and giving advice;
  • fill out forms with personal data and submit them to different agencies;
  • convincing people to do an activity together;
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of German-speaking countries and make them comprehensible to others to facilitate communication;
  • advance to the German - Intermediate course.

If you do not know what level you should sign up for, you can do a level test to get an indication of your language level.
