Chinese for beginners 1
This course is suitable for beginners of the Chinese language. Some examples of what you will learn in this course are how to introduce yourself in Chinese and how to ask for directions, etc. You will also be able to write short simple texts using Chinese characters.
The course focuses on eleven language functions, such as providing short descriptions, asking and answering simple questions, and providing explanations. Cultural topics are also discussed during the lessons.
At the end of the course, you will be able to
- use approx. 150 words in Pinyin
- understand many common expressions about daily life
- recognize approx. 150 words in Chinese characters

This course is intended for everyone who is highly educated. This means that you have a diploma at HAVO or VWO level and are therefore eligible for Higher Education in the Netherlands.
If you suspect you could start in course 2 directly because you followed a previous course in Chinese, please contact coordinator Cristina Irún for an appointment. We will assess your current level and decide which course is best suited for you.
