Chinese for beginners 2

This course is the follow-up to Chinese for Beginners 1. You will expand your vocabulary and be able to recognize and write more Chinese characters. For example, you will learn how to make an appointment in Mandarin, share your experiences, and negotiate when making purchases.

The practice activities in this course focus on topics from everyday life. You will learn to give short descriptions or explanations and to ask and answer simple questions. The course combines language skills with cultural skills.

By the end of the course, you will have reached level A2 of the European Reference Framework. You will then be able to:

  • recognize commonly used words and expressions related to daily life, your environment, work and studies when spoken slowly and clearly;
  • use a variety of appropriate words, phrases, and expressions to describe your daily activities, work, hobbies, and environment and express your opinions or preferences;
  • participate more independently in more nuanced conversations in Chinese on topics such as daily activities, work, studies, hobbies, and opinions;
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of Chinese-speaking countries and make them comprehensible to others to facilitate communication.
