French - Intermediate

This course is the continuation of French for beginners 2 and provides in-depth instructions. All skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) are covered in roughly equal measure, but the emphasis is on oral communication.

Through both individual tasks and group assignments, you will further expand your knowledge of French. Together with fellow students, you hold a meeting, for example. As homework, you watch a television program and answer questions about it. You will also learn more about France and the Francophone countries. One lecture is entirely devoted to the civilization française, including a bit of history and state structure. In addition, film and literature will be discussed and the lecturer connects to current events.

By the end of the course, you will have reached level B1 of the European Reference Framework. You will then be able to:

  • talk about past events;
  • write a letter of complaint;
  • express desires, wishes, regrets, and other feelings;
  • debate and argue;
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of French-speaking countries and make them comprehensible to others to facilitate communication.
  • advance to  French Upper-Intermediate.
