Two students studying

German - Intermediate

This course is the continuation of German for beginners 2 and provides depth. All skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) are covered, but the emphasis is on oral communication. You broaden your use of language and are able to express yourself with increasing accuracy and precision.

Through individual tasks and playful group assignments you immediately put into practice what you have learned. This course focuses on interaction, but the formal side of spoken and written language is also covered. You will improve your grammatical knowledge, build up a large vocabulary, and be able to express your opinion better and better. The course also addresses the differences and similarities between your own culture and that of German-speaking countries.

By the end of the course, you will have reached level B1 of the European Reference Framework. You will then be able to:

  • express and argue your opinion on everyday and social topics;
  • describe plans, dreams, hopes, and ambitions;
  • deal with most situations that may arise when you are in a German-speaking country, such as finding accommodation, choosing a university and studies, starting work;.
  • give and receive advice in an appropriate way;
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of German-speaking countries and make them comprehensible to others to facilitate communication;
  • advance to the German Upper-Intermediate course.

If you do not know what level you should sign up for, you can do a level test to get an indication of your language level.
