Cashing in Language Vouchers
Tilburg University offers its students the opportunity to take language courses free of charge. If you are enrolled at Tilburg University and pay tuition, then you will have received twelve electronic language vouchers at the beginning of your course of study. Exchange students and pre-master’s students receive twelve language vouchers.
Which courses can I take with my vouchers?
You can use these vouchers to take language courses at the Language Center. Each voucher is generally worth 1 ECTS. Most courses have a study load of 6 ECTS. This means you receive at least two languages courses for free! Each Language Center voucher course can be found in the OSIRIS Catalogus.
Required language courses that are part of an educational program do not have to be paid for with vouchers. Registration for these courses is arranged by the faculty.
Register for voucher courses
You can register for languages courses via OSIRIS Student just like for other courses. The system monitors whether you have sufficient vouchers. More information about registration via Osiris can be found here.
If you have used all your vouchers or you don't have enough vouchers left and you still want to take a language course, you have the option of paying for the course yourself. You can contact the Student Desk for information about registration for the courses.
Would you like to register for an intensive Dutch as a Second Language course, you cannot register via OSIRIS but should send a motivational letter to the coordinator of the Dutch department. If you receive a positive advice, further information about the registration will be sent to you.
Cancel your registration
You can cancel your registration until the end of the registration period. Your vouchers (or the paid fees) will be refunded. You can no longer cancel your registration for a course after the registration period has closed. The reason for canceling the language course is not relevant, even if it concerns a scheduling conflict with another course you would like to take.

Am I guaranteed a place with my language vouchers?
In most cases, everyone can register for the course of his or her choice. However, sometimes places are limited. You can have your name placed on a waiting list and you will be notified immediately when a place becomes available. Occasionally, the Language Center is forced to cancel a course. All registered students will have their vouchers and/or fees refunded.
