Spanish for beginners

In this intensive course, you will learn the basics of Spanish. All skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) are covered, but the course focuses mainly on interaction. Characteristic of the course is the large number of online homework assignments and practical classes where you, together with other students, put into practice what you have learned. You will have to work hard independently but will soon be able to communicate at an elementary level in Spanish.

All practice activities focus on practical and realistic situations. During the course you will complete various individual and group assignments so that you can immediately put into practice what you have learned. Cultural topics are also covered during the lessons.

By the end of the course, you will have reached level A2 of the European Framework of Reference. You will then be able to:

  • exchange information orally and in writing about basic personal and biographical information (such as age, date, and place of birth, nationality, profession, academic studies(s), work experience, place of residence, marital status, family and personal relationships, habits, and hobbies);
  • understand and give basic information about places such as countries, cities and homes;
  • exchange experiences related to the past (concerning travel, etc.) and plans for the future;
  • interact with practical purposes, such as: shopping, ordering in a restaurant, booking accommodation and transportation, and asking for addresses and opening hours;
  • ask and give preferences and opinions and indicate whether you agree or disagree with something;
  • ask and give advice;
  • express how you feel physically and emotionally;
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of Spanish-speaking countries and make them comprehensible to others to facilitate communication;
  • participate in the DELE exam for level A2;
  • advance the Spanish - Intermediate when you have achieved level A2.

If you do not know what level you can sign up for, you can make a level test to get an indication of your language level.
