Spanish Upper-Intermediate

This course is a continuation of Spanish - Intermediate. You will work with texts, video clips, online exercises, games, and simulations. All skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) are covered, but the emphasis is on interaction.

At the end of the course, you will have reached a level between B1-plus of the Common European Framework of Reference. You will be able to:

  • have spontaneous conversations without much effort;
  • talk about imaginary situations;
  • hold discussion and negotiate;
  • formulate your point of view on a current subject and identify the disadvantages and advantages of the various options;
  • discuss conditions for participation in an activity;
  • understand the core of a complex text;
  • better understand the differences and similarities between the culture of Spanish-speaking countries and your own culture in terms of values, beliefs, and behavior;
  • Participate in the DELE exam for level B1;
  • move on to the course Speaking Fluent Spanish.

If you do not know what level you can sign up for, you can make a level test to get an indication of your language level.

Specifics

  • This course is taught on campus
  • 80% attendance is required. Lessons are not recorded for later viewing.
  • The language of instruction in the course is Spanish (and if necessary, English/Dutch).
  • Language learning takes time! In this course, you are expected to spend 8 hours a week on independent study.
  • The Language Center reserves the right to cancel the course should enrollment numbers prove to be insufficient.
