Spanish - Speaking fluently

You can participate in this blended course if you have successfully completed intermediate or advanced Spanish. In this course of just 8 weeks, you will be immersed in speaking in Spanish.

It focuses on aspects necessary for successful communication, including vocabulary, grammar, and cultural differences.

By the end of the course you will have reached level B1+ for speaking skills of the European Framework of Reference. You will then be able to: 

  •  speak with a clearly intelligible pronunciation and use intonation variations to express nuances of meaning;
  • conduct a conversation with a purpose and use means of communication to start, maintain, and end a conversation;
  • actively participate in meetings in everyday, academic and professional situations;
  • discuss and debate;   
  • negotiate and reach compromises (express full or partial agreement and disagreement, offer alternatives, make deals...);
  • recount past events and news and describe situations; 
  • give an oral presentation on a topic related to your studies or work; 
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of Spanish-speaking countries make them comprehensible to others to promote communication;
  • advance to Spanish Upper-Intermediate.

If you do not know what level you can sign up for, you can make a level test to get an indication of your language level.

Level test Spanish 

  • This course is taught on campus and online.
  • 80% attendance is required. Lessons are not recorded for later viewing.
  • The working language in the course is Spanish (and if necessary, English/Dutch).
  • Language learning takes time! In this course, you are expected to spend 8 hours a week on independent study.
  • Since active participation is a key part of this blended course, you need to able to interact with the group in a digital environment. Make sure you have a stable internet connection, working webcam and headset or microphone. See the recommended hardware requirements.
  • The Language Center reserves the right to cancel the course should enrollment numbers prove to be insufficient.
