Admission procedure for applicants with a Dutch nationality and a Dutch diploma

We are pleased that you have decided to apply for our Research Master's program in Individual Differences and Assessment. You must follow the application procedure below if you have a Dutch nationality AND a Dutch diploma.

Admission requirements

In order to be accepted directly into our Research Master's program in Individual Differences and Assessment, you must have the following academic background:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree, which provided (under)graduate training in a relevant discipline: Psychology, Human Resources, General Social Sciences, Pedagogics, Biology; OR
  • a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sociology or Organization Studies, as long as you have taken the minor in Human Resource Studies; OR
  • you have succesfully followed the Premaster’s program in Human Resource Studies.
  • An average score of 7.5 for the courses in the second- and third-year of a Dutch Bachelor's program or an equivalent score in the Master's program;
  • Sufficient knowledge of the English language. Students have to pass a language proficiency test.
    • For TOEFL a minimum score of 600 (250 computer based, 100 internet-based) is required.
    • For Academic IELTS a minimum of 7.0 average with at least 6.5 for the separate elements.
    • The Cambridge Advanced English test (CAE) has been successfully passed if an A or B has been obtained.
    • The Cambridge Proficiency in English test (CPE) has been successfully passed if an A, B or C has been obtained.
    • English language certificate (TOEFL/Academic IELTS). (For non-native speakers of English who apply);
    • An English proficiency test is NOT required if you are an English native speaker, i.e. if you are a citizen of, or have obtained your Bachelor's and/ or Master's diploma in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States of America.
    • Students of Tilburg University who apply are offered the opportunity to participate for free for the obligatory English TOEFL/ Academic IELTS test. The test will be given on Tuesday 4th of July 2017 from 9:30 until 12:30 in in CZ 113. To register for this test, please send an e-mail to secretariaat.eri@tilburguniversity.edu no later than 23nd of  June 2017.

      Note:  this will be the last year that this test will be offered free of charge.

  • A strong motivation, excellent skills and sufficient talent for doing scientific research. Students have to submit their Bachelor's thesis or a comparable essay from the Bachelor's or Master's degree;

  • Evidence of a suitable attitude and motivation for the successful completion of the program, as demonstrated by a motivation letter and two letters of reference. In case of doubt, the board of the graduate school can decide to have an additional interview as part of the selection procedure.

Application deadline: 1 July 2017

When applying for the Research Master program, please make sure that your application letter, including all necessary documents, is received by the Admissions Committee before July 1, 2017.

Proof of a successful language test can be submitted after this deadline, until August 17, 2017.

Application procedure

This procedure must be followed only by Dutch applicants whose diploma was issued in the Netherlands.
Applicants who wish to be admitted to the Research Master program in Individual Differences and Assessment must take the following three steps.

Step 1: Apply in writing to the Examination Board

You must apply in writing to the Examination Board of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Please make sure you enclose all the required documents with your application package. For an overview of the required documents, see below.

You hold a Tilburg University Bachelor's degree?

Please submit the following documents, including a copy:

  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Letter of motivation (min. 300, max. 600 words in English);
  • Two references / letters of recommendation (with original signatures), including full contact details of referents (in particular phone and email). Referents should be available for consultation during the selection period;
  • English language certificate (TOEFL/Academic IELTS). (For non-native speakers of English who apply).
    • Students of Tilburg University who apply are offered the opportunity to participate for free for the obligatory English TOEFL/ Academic IELTS test.   • A complete statement of your courses and results and (if applicable) subjects still to be completed;
  • A Bachelor's or Master's thesis -or a comparable essay from the Bachelor's or Master's degree.

You hold a Bachelor's degree from another Dutch university?

Please submit the following documents, including two copies:

  • A certified copy of your degree certificate;
  • A certified copy of the official statement of higher education courses taken and marks/grades received;
  • Certified copies of the personal data page of your passport or ID-card (and residence permit, if applicable);
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Letter of motivation (min. 300, max. 600 words in English);
  • Two references / letters of recommendation (with original signatures), including full contact details of referents (in particular phone and email). Referents should be available for consultation during the selection period;
  • For non-native speakers of English who apply: English language certificate (TOEFL/Academic IELTS);
  • For undergraduates: A complete statement of your courses and subjects still to be completed, an enrolment certificate or statement by the higher education institution specifying the exams taken and grades obtained. Further, a statement from your mentor or supervisor at the university, which states his/her motivated confidence in the timely completion of your studies;
  • A Bachelor's or Master's thesis -or a comparable essay from the Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • It then assesses whether your degree qualifies you for admission to this Research Master program on a case by case basis. This procedure takes a maximum of six weeks.

Step 2: Register at Studielink

Once your application for the Research Master program in Individual Differences and Assessment has been approved you need to register at Studielink. It is also possible to register at Studielink pending the application procedure. You have to register in Studielink before the end of August in order to receive all the necessary information on time, such as the invitation for our Study Introduction Days.

Step 3: Complete your registration

Once your admission and registration at Studielink is completed you still need to complete your registration.
