Which application procedure should you follow?

The non-Dutch diploma procedure applies to graduates from a non-Dutch university.

The Dutch diploma procedure applies to:

  1.     Bachelor's graduates of Tilburg University
  2.     Bachelor's graduates of other Dutch universities
  3.     Graduates from a university in the Netherlands Antilles


Procedure with a non-Dutch diploma

First register for the MSc Information Management (Spring intake)

The ITEM Dual Degree program is offered jointly by Tilburg University and University of Turku in Finland. Due to the specific nature of this program, we will ask all applicants to first register for the MSc Information Management (Spring intake).

  • During the first semester of this program in Tilburg, we will invite all interested students to take part in a selection interview with the ITEM Selection Board. Based on the outcome of this interview and based on the study results in the MSc Information Management, we will select a maximum of 20 students to take part in the Dual Degree program at University of Turku in Finland.
  • Please note that students need to have obtained at least 30 ECTS before entering the Turku part of the ITEM program.

Bachelor's graduates of other universities

1. Educational background/diplomas

You must have a solid academic basis in the following areas in order to qualify for the Master's in Information Technology for Enterprise Management:

  • Mathematics and Statistics (18 ECTS)
  • Economics (12 ECTS)
  • Management or Marketing (12 ECTS)
  • Finance (12 ECTS)
  • Accounting (24 ECTS)
  • Databases (6 ECTS)
  • Business Process Analysis 1 (6 ECTS)
  • Information Systems Strategy (6 ECTS)
  • Academic Training (24 ECTS)*

*Academic training means courses/experience in research skills and an academic way of working. E.g. if you have written a thesis or have done a research project this will count as academic training.

2. GMAT test

It is compulsory for this program to submit your GMAT score.

  • The average GMAT score of accepted students at Tilburg University is 600. The GMAT institutional code for Tilburg University is VMV-LT-02.
  • Students with a relevant degree from one of the official partner universities of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management are exempted from the GMAT requirement.

3. English language proficiency

You need to demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting the results of either:

  • TOEFL with a minimum score of 575 (paper-based) / 233 (computer-based) / 90-91 (internet-based).
    The TOEFL institutional code for Tilburg University is 9860.
  • Academic IELTS score with a minimum of 6.5 score overall and a minimum score of 6.0 on individual parts of the test. 
  • Cambridge English test results: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) results.

An English proficiency test is not required if you are an English native speaker, i.e. if you are a citizen of, or have obtained your university education in English for at least three years in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (with exception of Quebec), New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States of America. For all other countries, the English language test is compulsory.


b) Consider the deadlines for the online application for admission

Starting end of January:

  • Dutch students: January 1
  • EU/EEA students: October 1
  • Non-EU/EEA students: October 1

c) Follow the application procedure

If you are an applicant with a diploma awarded by an institution outside the Netherlands, you should follow the procedure described below:

Step 1: Prepare your application package

Required documents:

  • Copy / scan of your valid passport.
  • Certified copy of your Bachelor's and/or Master's degree*, including
    a) Transcript of Records/list of grades.
    b) Short description of all the courses undertaken
    *If you still need to graduate, you should submit the expected graduation date
  • GMAT / GRE test results.

    The GMAT institutional code for Tilburg University is VMV-LT-02.
    The GRE institution code for Tilburg University is 0730.
    Students with a relevant degree from one of the official partner universities of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management may apply without GMAT/GRE.

  • English proficiency test results (TOEFL; IELTS; Cambridge Proficiency).

    The TOEFL institutional code for Tilburg University is 9860.

  • Statement of purpose (motivation letter).

  • Resume / Curriculum vitae.

Additional documents in specific situations:

  • Legalized translation of all documents that are not already in Dutch, English, French, or German.
  • Nuffic certificate (for Chinese students only).
  • Recommendation letter / References (obligatory for non-EEA applicants who want to be considered for an Alumni Funded / Excellence scholarship).

Step 2: Apply in the online application system (MySAS)

In order to apply for this Master's program at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management, please take the following steps:

  1. You will first need to create an online application account.
  2. After you have created this account, the online application system (MySAS) will send you an email asking you to activate your account. Once you have activated your account, you may return to MySAS and start your application.
  3. You can not apply for the Pre-Master’s program directly; always apply for the Master’s program. The Admission Committee will then decide, based on your complete application, whether or not you need to follow the Pre-Master’s program.
  4. Upload all the required documents as mentioned in the online application system.
    As soon as your application package is complete - i.e. all the required documents have been uploaded - we will start assessing your application.
  5. Within 4 to 6 weeks after your application package is complete, you will receive the decision of the Admission Committee by email.

Step 3: Admission Committee's decision

You will receive an email and a letter stating the outcome of your admission request and information about the rest of the admission procedure. There are three possibilities:

  • A. (Conditionally) accepted to the Master's program
    If you are conditionally accepted, this means that you are admitted to our Master's program, provided that you send the originals or certified copies of your documents.
  • B. (Conditionally) accepted to a Pre-Master's program
    It is possible that you do not completely fulfill the requirements. If this is the case, we may offer you a Pre-Master's program to prepare you for the Master's program. Conditionally accepted means that you are admitted to the Pre-Master's program, provided that you send the originals or certified copies of your documents.
  • C. Rejected
    If you do not fulfill the admission requirements, your application will be rejected. We will e-mail you personally the reasons for the rejection.

Step 4: Enroll via Studielink

All applicants accepted for this program are required to register via Studielink, the Dutch national database for higher education.

  • You need to register before the official start of the program, but we strongly advise you to register in Studielink as soon as possible after your admission.
  • You will not receive information about other procedures after your admission until you have registered in Studielink.
  • You will be given more specific information in your acceptance letter regarding the registration procedure, including information about the exact program for which you must register in Studielink.

    • The name of the Pre-Master's program in Studielink:
      B Business Administration (pre-Master Information Management). In Dutch: B Bedrijfseconomie (premaster Information Management).

Procedure with a Dutch diploma

Bachelor's graduates of Tilburg University

Bachelor's of Tilburg School of Economics and Management

A Bachelor's degree of Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) makes you automatically eligible for several Master's programs. Check the Overview Admission for TiSEM Bachelors for the specific entry requirements to each Master's program.

Should your degree not meet the criteria, you can make an appointment with your program coordinator to discuss your options.

Bachelor's graduates of other universities

Hbo Bachelor's graduates

Students with a Bachelor's degree from a university of applied sciences (hbo) are required to complete the Pre-Master's program in Information Management prior to entering the Master's program.


b) Consider the deadline for the online application for admission

  • Starting end of January: before January 1
    (only possible for university graduates)

c) Follow the application procedure

If you have a:

  1. eligible TiSEM Bachelor's or Pre-Master's degree
  2. AND are already registered as a student at Tilburg University,

then you don't have to submit an application for admission and can directly re-enroll for a Master's program. In June you will receive an email at your Tilburg University email address about re-enrollment.

All other applicants should follow the procedure described below:

Step 1: Submit an online application for admission

You need permission from the Admissions Committee of TiSEM to register for this program. Please use the form that applies to your situation:

  • Students with a Dutch academic Bachelor's degree; apply via our wo bachelor form.
  • Students with a Dutch hbo Bachelor’s degree; apply via our hbo form.
  • Students with a Dutch hbo bachelor’s degree and a non-TiSEM Pre-Master need to apply via the hbo-wo form.
  • TiSEM students who are currently enrolled in an eligible TiSEM bachelor's program only need to apply via Studielink.

Step 2: Admission Committee's decision

You will receive an email and a letter stating the outcome of your admission request and information about the rest of the admission procedure. There are three possibilities:

  • A. (Conditionally) accepted to the Master's program
    If you are conditionally accepted, this means that you are admitted to our Master's program, provided that you send the originals or certified copies of your documents.
  • B. (Conditionally) accepted to a Pre-Master's program
