Sociology: Bamberg - Tilburg (Double degree)
During this two-year program, you combine the Sociology Master’s programs from Tilburg University and the University of Bamberg (Germany). The program features a research-oriented curriculum from sociological theory to empirical social research. You will attend classes on sociological theory, empirical research methods, social structure analysis, and social policy.

Program and courses
During this two year Master's program, you spend the first year in Bamberg, Germany and the second year at Tilburg University. The program at Bamberg University focuses on empirical social research and education, labour market, and inequality. The program at Tilburg University, the track Sociology: Politics, Policy and Society in a Comparative Perspective, focuses on translating societal problems into sociological research from both micro- (family, social networks, crime) and macro-perspectives (welfare state, solidarity) to evaluate and create policy.
- You get the ultimate international experience by studying in Germany and the Netherlands.
- You get two full Master’s degrees in Sociology from two outstanding academic institutions.
- Expand your knowledge and practical skills by doing an Extended Master. During this extra semester you do a traineeship worth 30 ECTS (half a year) and gain relevant work experience.
- You only write one Master's thesis.
- The program is very flexible, which means you can tailor your program to your interests and create a unique and individual profile.
- You will get an interactive education with excellent individual thesis supervision.

Career prospects
As a graduate of the Double Degree program in Sociology with the University of Bamberg, you can be employed as a researcher, policy officer, advisor, or in management. You could work in a wide range of fields, including labor and employment, culture, welfare, recreation, education and healthcare.

Pre-Master’s program:
Half-year pre-Master’s program (30 ECTS) available if your previous program is relevant but does not meet the required entry level, for example, a Bachelor's degree from a University of Applied Sciences. Please note that the pre-Master’s program starts in Tilburg and has two intake moments (end of August and end of January).
