Tilburg University Magazine - Coach Cafe

Online Coach Cafe

Friends 1 min. Aniek Verhoeven

For the first time, Coach Café - the networking event for young alumni of Tilburg University and the Friends of Cobbenhagen - took place online. The theme work-life balance was extensively discussed during this edition by keynote speaker Sophie den Hartog (Fresh Habits) and coaches from Tilburg University's own alumni network.

The past few months were turbulent, to say the least. COVID-19 kept us in its grip from the beginning of March and figuratively - sometimes literally - put us on hold.  So the fourth edition of Coach Café took place on 10 September 2020 in a different way.

After visiting  Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague, Coach Café went online, making it possible for our alumni abroad to participate. For example, an alumna living in Colombia and another alumna from Barcelona participated in the event. So online offered benefits, but the café feeling was missed, despite the beer on their own couch.

Work-life balance

This edition's theme was work-life balance: how do you make sure you are optimally productive (can work from home) and stress-free (hello multitasking!)? How do you deal with challenges such as FOMO, technology that never stops and influences of your environment and turn them into opportunities? Sophie den Hartog of Fresh Habits showed us a number of hacks, based on her own work-life balance. Then the group split up into hang-outs in which our alumni coaches talked to young alumni.
