Wetenschapspodcast over kindfluencers

Listen to the science podcast about child influencers

Science Quest

In our podcast Science Quest, our in-house experts discuss the latest, funniest and most talked-about insights from their own research. In this episode, we look at child influencers: innocent role model or harmful phenomenon?

Child influencers and even momfluencers, the moms, are new variations on the social media influencer. They involve parents spreading images of their children. Some people consider this to be child labor and the parents, usually mothers, are said to be exploiting their children for their own gain. But are they really only doing this for the money? And aren't there also many moms and dads who post pictures of their children without thinking twice? Is publicity harmful to children? And what do children really need to develop safely?

Speaking on this topic are Ini Vanwesenbeeck, researcher in the field of persuasive communication, and Rabia Chhangur, developmental psychologist.
