ONLINE Essays on Labor and Family Economics in China

This dissertation contains three chapters that investigate topics lying in the intersection between household and labor economics, with a special focus on the context of China. Chapter 2 studies the long-term effect of childcare choice on children's education and labor market outcomes. Chapter 3 examines the immediate effect of the family planning policy relaxation in 2013 on female labor supply and explores potential explanations behind the observed effect. Chapter 4 studies how a sibling's education affects an individual's own educational and health outcomes, by exploiting the compulsory education law reform around 1986.
