dr. Dries Deweer

Bio

Mijn naam is Dries Deweer. Ik ben politiek filosoof en vice-decaan onderwijs van de Tilburg School for Humanities and Digital Sciences. Mijn onderzoek is gericht op de filosofie van het personalisme en het denken van Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) in het bijzonder, met de klemtoon op vragen omtrent de betekenis van burgerschap en politieke verantwoordelijkheid. Voor mijn doctoraal proefschrift (aan de KU Leuven) ontving ik de vijfjaarlijkse Mgr. Arthur Janssen Prijs voor Christelijke Ethiek. De resultaten van dat onderzoek werden gepubIiceerd in het boek Ricoeur’s Personalist Republicanism. On Personhood and Citizenship (Lexington 2017). Samen met KU Leuven-politicoloog Steven Van Hecke publiceerde ik het boek De mens centraal. Essays over het personalisme vandaag en morgen (Pelckmans Pro 2017). Recent publiceerde ik ook over populisme en over de politieke ethiek van compromisvorming.
