dr. Jimmy van Rijt

Bio

Dr. Jimmy H.M. van Rijt is an assistant professor at the Tilburg Center of the Learning Sciences.  His research focuses on L1 language teaching. He has particular expertise in grammar education, most notably when it comes to the relationships between linguistic theory and language education. Topics of interest include: (grammatical) understanding, reasoning  within the context of L1 education, (meta)conceptual learning and literacy development. Apart from being an assistant professor at Tilburg University, Jimmy is also a member of the Association for Research in L1 Education (ARLE), a member of the European Literacy Network, a co-editor for the journal L1-Educational Studies of Language and Literature and an editorial board member for Pedagogical Linguistics.
