Application and admission: Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence - national procedure

This is the national application and admission procedure for the Master’s program of Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence.

a) Check your eligibility

Students of Tilburg University

With the following Tilburg University Bachelor's degrees, you can be directly admitted.

  • Bachelor of Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence
  • Joint Bachelor of Data Science

Are you taking a different Bachelor at Tilburg University? Or are you not or no longer enrolled as a Tilburg University student?

In that case, the Admissions Committee will determine whether your Bachelor's degree is (still) a sufficient fit to be admitted to the Master's program.

In order to be eligible, your previous education must have provided you with:

  • a sufficient mathematics background;
  • a broad knowledge of AI techniques;
  • sufficient programming experience in Python or other AI programming languages;
  • demonstrable basic-level knowledge in disciplines such as cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, psycholinguistics, or similar.

If you are in doubt whether you meet the admission requirements, we invite you to register in Studielink. The program’s Admissions Committee will assess whether you can be admitted.

Are you studying at or do you have a Bachelor's degree from a research university other than Tilburg University?

In that case, the program’s Admissions Committee will determine whether your Bachelor's degree is a sufficient fit to be admitted to the Master's program.

In general, the following applies.

  • Students with a Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence / Kunstmatige Intelligentie from one of the following universities (KION members) can be admitted to the Master: Radboud University, Utrecht University, Maastricht University, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), University of Amsterdam (UvA), and Groningen University.
  • Students with a research university Bachelor’s degree in the field of Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field can be admitted if their previous education has provided them with:

    • a broad knowledge of AI techniques;
    • sufficient programming experience in Python or other AI programming languages;
    • demonstrable basic-level knowledge in disciplines such as cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, psycholinguistics, or similar

If you are in doubt whether you meet the admission requirements, we invite you to register in Studielink. The program’s Admissions Committee will assess whether you can be admitted.
