I came to Tilburg University primarily because it was the destination of the Double Degree Program. But I was very happy to come to the Netherlands, because I expected it to be an interesting and open-minded country, and I was curious about experiencing a new life style. I am very satisfied with my experiences here so far. I am learning a lot, not only as a student, but as a person in general. I have had opportunities here that I could not imagine when I arrived; for instance, I am also doing a traineeship at the Sociology Department here. And I also became a teaching assistant in a Bachelor’s course. I have a lot to do, but I am learning a lot!

First and foremost, Sociology at Tilburg University was an obvious choice for me. Research methods and statistics are an important part of the Tilburg curriculum. I’m interested in these subjects, so it was a logical step for me to take. I also find the Master’s program in Tilburg very interesting.

This is what I found also here at the MSc in Sociology: I found insightful methodological and theme-based courses, of which I preferred those focused on social policy and social capital.

The program focuses on the sociological analysis of problems of social inequality and social cohesion in contemporary Western societies, from a micro perspective (family, social networks, social mobility) and from a macro perspective (welfare state, solidarity). In the courses of our Master's program, theory and research are combined, and the topics cover a broad overview of current-day social problems. The knowledge and skills you acquire in this Master will help you towards establishing your place in the next generation of Sociologists.
