Two winners from Tilburg University collect their price at Student Startup Award Brabant 2018

On June 5th the second Student Startup Award Brabant event took place in Club Smederij in Tilburg. This event and was organized again by NHTV, Avans, Fontys and Tilburg University.

The categories, Best Startup, Best Social/Sustainable Initiative and Best idea, in which could be participated by entrepreneurs who recently started running their own business or who are still in the starting phase of the design of their business plan were able to pitch their idea and got the chance to win an amount of money to spend on their business.

In preparation of the event the entrepreneurs had the chance to participate in a professional pitch training. All the participators have one common denominator, they study or have recently graduated at one of the four participating schools.

And the winners are...

Best Student Startup Award Brabant 2018
Nexio Projects
, a company that supports SME’s towards internationally recognized sustainability audits, founded by Tilburg University, MSc Information Management student Anca Negotei and Marc Roodhuyzen de Vries has won in the category the Best Startup (Black Belt).

In the category Best Social/Sustainable Initiative Luka Fischer & Isa Krischke, Tilburg University students, both studying Global Law, have won. Their initiative, called Menstrual Cup Project, has the aim to create a menstrual cup factory in Lebanon which will focus on bringing a safer sanitary solution closer to the refugee communities in the country. They aim to tackle the issues of distribution and hygiene.

Best Social-Sustainable initiative

Jibia (Stijn Valkenburg, Florentijn Knol and Mark Berger from Tilburg University) was also nominated, but unfortunately did not win in the category Best idea. In this category the company SomeTea from Fontys has won.

The jury was looking for entrepreneurs who recently started running their own business or who are still in the starting phase of the design of their business plan.
