Impact Program

The Tilburg University Impact Program brings together researchers and stakeholders in complex societal issues in order to advance society with the help of knowledge and innovation.

Urban refugees

Night Talk: Urban refugees live outside the official refugee camps: sometimes out of free will, sometimes because they are not allowed access to these camps. Under the radar and out of sight of authorities and support organizations, they try to rebuild their lives.

Based on empirical research conducted in Athens and Thessaloniki earlier this year, Professor Conny Rijken will discuss how urban refugees try to survive, what challenges they face, and how they cope with these challenges. One of the students involved in the data collection will give some insight into how this study was conducted. Professor Hein Fleuren will explore the topic from a Data Science perspective.
