Meet the nominees of the Impact Award 2021
The Tilburg University Impact Award will be presented for the second time this year. The Impact Award is an initiative of the Impact Program, which connects researchers from different fields to each other and to partners from outside the university. The Impact Program wishes to express its appreciation for research projects that have made a social and scientific impact. From the 21 projects submitted, a jury chose three nominees. The scientists have a chance to win the title and 10,000 euros.
A total of 21 impressive projects were submitted, all of high quality and diverse in nature. The projects were assessed on societal and scientific impact. Societal impact includes demonstrable effects in society. Scientific impact is measured by the number of publications and innovative properties of the research. A jury, consisting of Paulina Snijders (Vice-President and member of the Executive Board of Tilburg University), Chantal Vergouw (Executive Charman Interpolis) and Esmah Lahlah (Alderman of Tilburg), has assessed the studies on the basis of these criteria. Three studies came out best.
The Longa Via Team (Saskia Lavrijssen, Martijn Groenleer, Henk Akkermans, Wendy van der Valk, Tom Aben and Brenda Espinosa) with the ‘Longa Via project’ on research on the implementation of data-driven innovations in infrastructure sectors.
Max Louwerse, Marie Postma, Anna van Limpt-Broers, Laduona Dai and Willemijn Weterings with ‘Spacebuzz – Creating ambassadors of planet earth’ on the possibilities of Virtual Reality in education.
Netspar with ‘New pension design for all Dutch citizens’ (Newsitem only available in Dutch)
The winner will be announced on August 30 2021, during the Opening Academic Year.
