Submit a Paper

Submission to the Discussion Paper series is open to all Faculty Members, PhD students and Visiting Researchers. Former PhD students may also submit papers to the series during the first two years after their graduation. In special cases, and with approval from the Vice Dean Research, papers by non-CentER members may be submitted into the series, e.g. those arising out of conferences sponsored by CentER.

Please note:

1. If a non-CentER member wishes to publish a CentER DP without a co-author who is a member of CentER, then refereeing of the paper is compulsory.

2. It is possible to replace an existing DP with a (substantially) revised version. The instructions below relate to first versions as well as revised versions. The replacement papers will be placed on the CentER webpage and the Tilburg University Research Portal, and they will be noted to the effect that they are revised versions of existing papers. In addition, CentER will arrange for the SSRN records to be updated. Revised papers do not need to be refereed (again).

Procedure for submitting Discussion Papers

If more than one author is involved, one of them must act as a contact person. The author is responsible for the (re-)submission of the paper and for keeping the co-author(s) informed on any decisions made.

The procedure is as follows:

  • The author submits the (revised) paper to the Research Coordinator of his or her group.
  • The Research Coordinator decides if the paper should be refereed or not.
  • If the paper does not require refereeing, then:
    • The author submits the paper to the Discussion Paper Coordinator. The author should submit a PDF version of the paper. The paper should include the following details:
    • the full names and affiliation(s) of the author(s)
    • the full title of the paper
    • the appropriate JEL-code
    • the appropriate key words
    • if it is a revised version of an existing paper, this should be noted on the title page, along with the DP number of the version that has been revised, the original version date (../../..), and the revised version date (../../..)

If the Research Coordinator decides that the paper should be refereed, please contact the Discussion Paper Coordinator on the steps to be taken.

Once a paper is accepted, the following steps are taken:

  1. The author submits the paper to the Discussion Paper Coordinator.
  2. The Discussion Paper Coordinator then:
    • assigns the Discussion Paper with a reference number;
    • submits and registers the paper in Tilburg University Research Portal (PURE);
    • submits the Discussion Paper to the electronic journal of the Social Science Research Network (SSRN)
    • in the case of revised papers, will update the CentER webpage and amend the SSRN records.
