Abstract

The online and offline media landscape is more and more diverse. After the introduction of social media about a decade ago, the volume of online platforms has increased and new online platforms are launched every year. In this scattered digital media landscape it becomes increasingly challenging for organizations to reach their audiences. Therefore, addressing audiences personally and delivering the right content to the right person with personalized communication becomes increasingly valuable. With the emergence of the economics of personal data, academic research started investigating consumer perceptions and the impact of personalized communication. What do we know so far? What are prevalent interesting questions for future research? Can we find a common ground to conduct interdisciplinary and collaborative research?
