 Energy Trading and its Multiplicity of Supervisors

Energy companies trade in derivatives which have a value based on energy commodities (“Energy Trading”). Energy Trading is subjected to several regulatory frameworks and – as a consequence – to a multitude of supervisory authorities at both a national- and European level. It appears that these supervisory authorities cooperate and share information amongst each other, which triggers the question on how the multiplicity of supervisory authorities impact effective supervision of Energy Trading and which role information sharing plays in such transnational context.
