On 13th of June, Dr. Martin Husovec (Tilburg University, TILT/TILEC) together with Professor Martin Kretschmer (University of Glasgow, CREATe) organized the first of the series of the European Copyright Roundtables in Brussels. Organizers designed the Roundtable as a high-level expert event targeting the representatives of the Member States in order to discuss the future implementation of the EU’s 2019 Copyright Reform.

It brought together 70 reputed experts, including representatives of the half of the Member States of the EU, several representatives of the European Commission, industry and renowned academics in the field. The topic of the first meeting was implementation of the most controversial provision of the Directive concerning online platforms and their responsibility for user-generated content (Article 17). The event was simultaneously webstreamed with several hundred people watching online. The recordings of its four sessions can be found on the dedicated YouTube channel.
