Ivona Skultetyova presents her empirical research on Initial Coin Offerings

Ivona Skultetyova presented her empirical research on Initial Coin Offerings on 29th November at the international conference Blockchain, Public Trust, law and Governance.

Blockchain and its applications face significant regulatory uncertainty, which poses increased risks for the implementation of this novel and ground-breaking technology. One of its applications is a new method of startup fundraising, Initial Coin Offerings. Although this crowd-based type of fundraising has created a market worth of $40 billion, the policy-makers have yet to clarify the legal nature of tokens and applicable regulatory regimes.
Ivona's research focuses on current pre-investment practices and post-investment practices of investors and companies that launched ICOs in order to determine, what type of regulation is necessary to balance two competing interests, proliferation of innovative technologies and protection of investors.
