Theme Day 2018. Here I Am. Identity and Vocation.

Why am I here? What gives meaning to my life? What is expected of me? What kind of person do I want to be? These are perennial questions of human life. Today, maybe more than ever, these questions are also raised by people who are involved with faith and church. In Rome, a special synod in October will address questions of youth, vocation and discernment. The Dutch program for World Youth Day 2019 in Panama bears the title ‘Discover your Identity’. Questions about one’s path in life, vocation and identity are questions for young and old alike. But especially young people struggle with discerning what to expect of life, faith and church. Tilburg School of Catholic Theology (TST) asked its young researchers to consider these questions, approached from their own expertise. Whether you are young or old, a seeker or a guide: you are welcome to learn more about identity and vocation from the treasury of theology. Please be invited for our Theme day, June 21st in Tilburg.

13.40 - 14.00 Here I Am. Living a Liturgical Life - Sam Goyvaerts

We are all called to do something with our lives, be at as a pastor, a teacher, a manager, a parent… The underlying question is how we do this. This lecture will approach our theme of vocation and identity from a broader but fundamental perspective. For Christians in particular, vocation becomes a question of existence itself. To unfold this Christian mode of existence, we will make use of liturgical concepts and explore what it means to live life liturgically.
