Understanding Society

Tilburg University has been a reliable provider of high-quality education and research for more than eighty years. We specialize in the social sciences and humanities and we seek to make a structural contribution to society.

Alumni Chapter China

For more than twelve years, Tilburg University has invested in developing strategic alliances with various reputable universities in Beijing, Shanghai and Shandong.  Currently, Tilburg University has 650 alumni with a Chinese nationality who live in the Netherlands, in China and in other parts of the world.

Considering the constant increase of the number of alumni and the importance of strengthening our cooperation with our partner universities in China, we consider it of outmost importance to support our Alumni Chapter in China.

The chapter primary functions are to support our alumni in their career development, to help attract new talent and to connect Tilburg University to the private and public sectors.

Stay engaged through Tilburg University alumni reunion

By Tilburg University Alumna Yuxia Jiang

About 30 alumni & new students from Tilburg University and TIAS got together in Beijing on March 27 2015 for an alumni reunion, where they met and reconnected with former students and staff from Tilburg University.

The reunion was the first event in 2015 for the Alumni Community of Tilburg University in Beijing. A few Chinese students who will start their study at Tilburg University in September were also among those present, a great opportunity for them to get some idea about the life and study in Tilburg.

Mr. Omid Feyli, the international marketing advisor at Tilburg University, who was on a business trip to China, opened the evening by giving a small speech, updating the alumni on the latest development at the university, the appointment of new rector prof. dr. Emile Aarts and the new study programs it jointly hosts with the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Dr. Junwei Fu, who studied at the Law School, also a board member of the Beijing Chapter, announced the board’s decision to set up an activity committee to help the board organize events, engage more alumni and build a strong community. Fu also called for volunteers to join the committee. If you are interested in joining the activity committee, please send an e-mail to alumni@tilburguniversity.edu.

The evening, accompanied with nice food, drinks and laughters at the ‘gezellige’ Luce Restaurant in Beijing’s historic Gulou area, was truly a joyful occasion, as said by alumnus Wen Liu. Liu, who studied at the School of Economic and Management from 2008 to 2012, said he was really happy to be at the gathering, to meet some old friends which he met during his years at Tilburg. He also is looking forward to more gatherings in the future.
