Nathan Wildman studied at UC Santa Cruz (BA, 2005) and Cambridge (MPhil 2007, PhD 2011), before spending several years working at Hamburg and Glasgow. He is a former member of the Phlox Research Group, the SNF-Funded project Grounding – Metaphysics, Science, and Logic, and the Emmy Noether project, Ontology After Quine.

Nathan’s primary research, which falls in the intersection of metaphysics, philosophy of language, and logic, concerns the foundations of modality. He is particularly interested in the relationship between modality and essence, along with defending various forms of contingentism. He also has strong interests in aesthetics, especially regarding the nature of interactive fictions and the logic of truth in fiction. For more information, see his webpage.
