Bio

I am member of the department of Biblical Studies and Church History of the Catholic Faculty of Theology (Tilburg University). I read theology and biblical exegesis in Amsterdam and Rome and philosophy in Amsterdam. I taught at several universities in the Netherlands and at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany). In the past I combined part-time working at the university with practical work like being a minister in a prison. Since January 2013 I am full-time scholar as ordinary professor New Testament and extraordinary professor Early Christian literature (and since 2019 Dean of Research). I try to assess in those wisdom traditions phenomenons, which are relevant for 2020: dreams as a special form of wisdom, ministry and leadership in the past as a mirror for today and models and strategies of learning in biblical, Jewish and Early Christian traditions.
