My research focuses on the regulatory role in the domain of sustainability and human rights played transnationally by private actors such as standard-setters and corporations. I am interested in the coordinating and directing mechanisms which are employed by public authorities under different areas of EU and international (economic) law in the orchestration and steering of private regulations, and their effects, both from an empirical and theoretical perspective.

My research is situated within the ERC-funded project ‘The Resilience and Evolution of Economic Activism and the Role of Law’ (REVEAL). This multidisciplinary project aims at identifying the underlying reasons for dominance of transnational private regulators in the area of manufacturing and finance, and the endogenous factors contributing to their success and elusiveness to public regulation.
