Fons van de Vijver (Prof. Em.) held a chair in cross-cultural psychology at Tilburg University, the Netherlands and has an extraordinary chair at North-West University, South Africa, and the University of Queensland, Australia; he is senior researcher at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, Russia. He has (co-)authored about 600 publications, mainly in the domain of cross-cultural psychology. The main topics in his research involve bias and equivalence, psychological acculturation and multiculturalism, cognitive similarities and differences in the cognitive domain, response styles, translations and adaptations.  He is one of the most frequently cited cross-cultural psychologists in Europe.  He has received various Dutch and international prizes.  He is a former president of  the European Association of Psychological Assessment and the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology.
