Expertise

Practical Theology is concerned with the confrontation and interrelationship between on the one hand the Gospel of `abundant life´, and on the other real existence, experienced realities, and the questions that the contemporary world poses. It looks particularly at the secular context of Western Europe and its many transformations (including those arising from processes of digitalization, the blurring of identities, globalization and the rise of complexity and heterogeneity). PT asks what productive insights for a theologically responsible path for Christianity can be identified here, and how these can be reconstructed by practical theologians as sites or events of God´s presence, his saving activity and grace. What can we learn from this context with respect to further ecclesial and extra-ecclesial activity, christian teaching, or the content of theological terms? On the other hand: which prophetical attitude, learned by the Gospel, would be appropriate within contemporary culture?
