Maaike Geuens is a lecturer at Tilburg University. She successfully defended her PhD in May 2021, which focused on the European Citizens’ Initiative and its impact on the democratic functioning of the European Union.
She conducts research in European law and comparative constitutional law and has taught courses on European law, coached moot courts, comparative constitutional law and legal methodology.
She is a member of the Centre for Direct Democracy Studies, University of Białystok, and a voluntary researcher at the University of Antwerp. and was a visiting fellow at the Institute for European Studies in 2018 and Karl Franzens University (Austria) in 2016.
