Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874-1936) was a famous British author, who converted at the age of 48 from Anglicanism to the Roman Catholic Church. His religious development had a great influence on his writings that often dealt with Christianity. He contrasted a traditional Christian philosophy with the alternative views that were widespread in England at the beginning of the 20th century. Most of his cases are still valid today. This is why his apologetics has the potential to inspire the development of a new approach of apologetics that mainly deals with a trend from the beginning of the 21st century, the so-called "new atheists" (Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens). While they reinforce secularism, the Roman Catholic Church is calling for new evangelization. Drawing on G.K. Chesterton's insightful apologetics, the goal of this research project is to develop a solid apologetic approach towards the new atheism and the secular world.
