De-enrollment from education

If you want to quit your studies, there are a number of things you have to arrange. On this webpage you can read what to do if you de-enroll from your study program, because you (temporarily) interrupt your study.

No rights can be derived form the information provided below. Check for the exact regulations for termination of registration and restitution the Registration and Tuition Fee Regulations.

Bachelor and (Research) Master

Once you know that you have graduated or decided to quit the program, you can de-enroll in Studielink.

You CANNOT de-enroll retroactively. Your enrollment will be terminated as of the first whole month following the month in which you submit your de-enrollment request through Studielink.

If you subsequently move on to a Master's program, your premaster enrollment will be terminated on the last day of the month in which you attained the last result from your premaster.

In Studielink, click the ‘Terminate Enrolment’ button. Next, the 'request termination of enrolment' form is shown. Enter the last day of the month (in the future) in which you no longer wish to be enrolled. Enter the reason for your de-enrollment.

Once you have de-enrolled in Studielink you might be reimbursed for any remaining tuition fees that you have already paid (if applicable). The exact amount of the possible refund depends of course also on how much you have already paid. If you have paid the full amount, you might be reimbursed 1/12 portion for each month that you are no longer enrolled. If you pay in installments, the university will cease debiting your account if you paid all amounts due and you will be reimbursed for any excess that you have already paid.

If your de-enrollment date is July 1 or August 1,  you will receive no refund. In this case, you may remain enrolled in the program, giving you the possible added advantage of remaining registered as a student with all associated entitlements such as a student travel pass. From the mid June, you can indicate that you do not wish to re-enroll for the next academic year (starting on September 1). You can do so in Studielink by clicking on the ‘Re-enrol for next year’ button and select the option "No, I do not wish to re-enrol".

You will receive confirmation of your de-enrollment from Studielink. Please note! Do not forget to notify DUO of your de-enrollment and to stop your student loans and student travel pass. The date of termination of student loans must be before or on the date of de-enrollment at the university.

Premaster

Once you have met all the requirements for the premaster's program or if you have decided to quit the program, you can de-enroll in Studielink.

Premaster’s students do not pay tuition fees, but rather a fee per credit, called weighted fees. You are therefore not entitled to a refund if you de-enroll during the academic year. Did you choose to pay your weighted fee via installments, Tilburg University will continue to withdraw the remaining installments from your bank account until the outstanding amount is paid in full. You can therefore choose to remain enrolled until August 31. The advantage of staying enrolled might be that you retain your student entitlements such as your student travel pass.

From mid June, you can indicate that you do not wish to re-enroll for the next academic year (starting on September 1).

Post-Master Accountancy

If you wish to de-enroll from a Post-Master’s Accountancy program, please contact coordinator of the program, Mr. R.C.W. Eken. He will inform the Student Administration of your decision.

If graduating, the approval of your diploma request will automatically result in de-enrollment from the Post-Master Accountancy program.

Covenant or individual minor student

Are you a minor student and do you wish to de-enroll? Please fill in the digital de-enrollment form for minor students. The Student Administration will then terminate your enrollment as of the date that you indicate on the form.

Contract student

If you are a contract student enrolled in contract teaching, then your enrollment will automatically continue until August 31 and terminate automatically on September 1.
