Students Tilburg University

Prior education - Admissable

Tilburg University must determine - for everyone applying for a bachelor or premaster program - whether the Dutch or foreign prior education meets the education requirements. Completed Dutch prior education is automatically exchanged provided that it is (already) registered in the DUO diploma register.

The prior education verification has not yet taken place or additional information is required in order to fulfill this To-Do item. This item “Prior education” disappears as soon as your prior education registered (by yourself) in Studielink, might be admissible (though might not have been verified yet).

Enrollment in a Bachelor's program

Tilburg University must determine whether the Dutch or foreign prior education meets the admission requirements for everyone who applies for a bachelor's or pre-master's.

I. Enrollment in a bachelor program with Dutch prior education

If you have registered for a Bachelor’s program in Studielink based on prior education in the Netherlands, this needs to be verified before your enrollment at the university can be completed.

Most qualifications are verified automatically using the national diploma register. Once this has occurred, this item will disappear from your To-do list without you having to take any further action if theprior education is admissible.

This verification has not yet taken place. Possibly, in order to be enrolled on time, you might have to hand in an original statement of graduation, certified copy of the diploma and/or a transcript (of record).

For Economics bachelor's degree programs, the bachelor's programs in Data Science and Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence, it is possible that your (verified) prior education does not meet the mathematics and/or English language requirement. You can read more information about this in the admission requirements of your program. If you have any questions, please contact the Student Desk. This action point may remain open because in the case of an application for a bachelor's degree program mentioned above, it has not yet been verified whether the relevant mathematics requirement and/or English language requirement has been met.

Action to be taken by student:

Submit a certified copy of the VWO/HBO(P) diploma and list of grades or graduation statement to the Student Desk.

Pay attention:

For a Economic bachelor's program or the Bachelor's in Data Science  you may also need to submit a mathematics certificate to the Student Desk. More information about this can be found on the website of the study program.

For the bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence, you may also need to provide a mathematics certificate and the result of an English language test. If you have a HBO(P) diploma, submit a diploma or graduation statement, a mathematics certificate and the English language test result to the faculty. More information about this can be found on the website of the study program.

Please note that we require an original statement of graduation; a copy will not suffice.

How/where:

Deposit the certified copy(s) of the diploma and, if necessary, list of marks or the original statement of graduation in the mailbox at the entrance to the Student Desk (Route 14, A301). You can also send it by mail to: Tilburg University, Student Administration, P.O. Box 90153, 5000 LE Tilburg.

II. Enrollment in a bachelor program with foreign prior education

If you have registered for a Bachelor’s program in Studielink based on a foreign prior education, this needs to be verified before your enrollment at the university can be completed.

You can only enroll in a Bachelor’s program on the basis of a foreign degree once the Executive Board has issued a decision which states that you have been admitted. This decision is issued once you have completed the application procedure and you meet all admission requirements.

If all the admission requirements (including any additional requirements) have been met, Student Administration will ensure that a decision is issued. This item will then automatically disappear from your to do list.

Action to be taken by student:

Check whether you have completed the entire application procedure correctly. If you have questions about this matter, please contact the Admission Officer of your School. Once all the necessary steps have been taken, this item will disappear from your To-do list without you having to take any further action.

Enrollment in a Premaster's program

In order to be enrolled in a Premaster’s program at Tilburg University, you must meet the admission requirements. The school will determine whether you meet all the (additional) requirements. If you are a new student at Tilburg University you need to apply for admission at the school to start the admission process.

The school has yet to provide Student Administration with official confirmation that you have met these requirements.

Action to be taken by student:

Check whether you have completed the entire admission procedure correctly. Once all the necessary steps have been taken, there is no need for any further action taken by student. For more information, please contact the Admission Officer of your School.

Enrollment in a Master's program

In order to be enrolled in a Master’s program at Tilburg University, you must meet the admission requirements. The school will determine whether you meet all the (additional) requirements. If you are a new student at Tilburg University you need to apply for admission at the school to start the admission process.  You need to comply with the Bachelor's-before-Master's rule (Harde Knip); you cannot start your Master, before being graduated for a bachelor or premaster's degree program.
