Payment method tuition or weighted fees

Tilburg University offers several payment methods. On this page you can find more information about the payment method that applies to your situation.

You arrange your payment method in Studielink. If you have a Dutch or SEPA bank account, you can issue a digital payment authorization in Studielink to pay your tuition fee. If you do not have a Dutch or SEPA bank account, you will have to transfer the tuition fee to the bank account of Tilburg University yourself and you will have to select 'Other method of payment' as payment method in Studielink. If you are enrolled at another Dutch HBO or WO educational institution, you may be able to pay with a Proof of tuition fee payment (BBC). Payment details can be entered in Studielink as of mid-June.

Payment method Dutch or SEPA bank account

With a Dutch or SEPA bank account, you can issue a digital payment authorization in Studielink as of mid-June. By confirming this digital authorization, you authorize Tilburg University to debit the full tuition fee or pre-Master’s weighted fee from the bank account provided in Studielink. You can choose between a one-time direct debit and a payment in installments. More information about this can be found below.

Enter payment method

To enter your payment method, log in to your Studielink account and click on 'Enter payment details' at the top of the page or go to the 'To do' of the study program. You will be directed to the 'Payment' tab on which you click 'Enter payment details' for the educational institution concerned.

At the question 'Who is paying the tuition fees?' you must select whether you will pay the tuition fees yourself or whether someone else will pay. Next, you answer the different questions. An instruction manual 'Digital (direct debit) authorization' is available at Studielink Step-by-step plans. You can only let someone else issue a digital payment authorization if that other person has a Dutch or SEPA bank account.

Check whether you receive a confirmation email from Studielink, after confirming the digital authorization. Also, check in OSIRIS Student whether the 'payment method' item has disappeared from your 'To-do' list OSIRIS for the specific study program.

One-time direct debit

With a one-time direct debit, you authorize Tilburg University to collect the tuition fee or pre-Master’s weighted fee for your active enrollment(s) in full at once for the entire academic year. The direct debit takes place on 25-09-2024 if you start with a study program in September and on 25-02-2025 if you start with a study program in February in the 2024-2025 academic year. If your enrollment is finalized on or a few days before or after the 25th of September or February, the one-time direct debit will take place on 25-10-2024 for the September-intake an on 25-03-2025 for the February-intake. No administration fee (€24) will be charged for a one-time direct debit payment.

Please note: with a one-time direct debit, you are required to pay the full amount of tuition fee for the entire academic year at once. Even if you intend to deregister halfway through the academic year (for example after graduation). A refund of any overpaid tuition fees will only take place after the deregistration has been completed. If you do not want to pay the full amount tuition fee at once at the start of the academic year, you could choose to pay in installments.

Payment in installments

With a payment in installments, you pay in eight installments when you begin your studies in September and in four installments when you begin your studies in February. Tilburg University will charge an administration fee of €24 for a payment in installments. This administration fee will be added to the first installment.

Installment dates 2024-2025 academic year:

September 25, 2024

October 25, 2024

November 25, 2024

January 27, 2025

February 25, 2025 (first installment date when starting in February)

March 25, 2025

April 28, 2025

May 26, 2025

If you start a bachelor's or master's program on 01-02, you pay 7/12 * the tuition fee that applies to you in that specific academic year. That fee is then divided into four installments (February through May).

If your enrollment is finalized on or a few days before or after the first installment date, the direct debit takes probably place on the installment date one month later. For example, if you start on 01-09-2024 and finalize your enrollment on 24-09-2024, the first installment will be debited on 25-10-2024 and your tuition fee is being divided into seven installments.

Personal remittance (payment method non-SEPA bank account)

Without a Dutch or SEPA bank account, you will have to transfer the tuition fees to the bank account of Tilburg University yourself (personal remittance) and you will have to select 'Other method of payment' as payment method in Studielink. Payment details can be entered in Studielink as of mid-June.

In case you want to transfer the tuition or pre-Master's weighted fee yourself for another reason, you can also use the bank details below.

Proof of tuition fee payment (BBC)

If you are enrolled at another accredited Dutch university or HBO institution and if you pay the statutory fee for your study program at that institution, you may be exempted from paying the statutory fee or pre-Master’s weighted fee at Tilburg University by submitting a Proof of tuition fee Payment (BBC). Or vice versa if you want.

Please note: this applies only to the statutory fee. If you pay the institutional fee elsewhere, you cannot be exempted from paying the statutory fee or pre-Master’s weighted fee.

In Studielink, you indicate at which educational institution you want to pay with a BBC (for Tilburg University possible as of mid-June). In your Studielink account, click on 'Enter payment details' at the top of the page and go to the 'To do' of the study program. You will be directed to the 'Payment' tab on which you click 'Apply for proof of paid tuition fees' for the educational institution at which you want to pay with a BBC. Next, you answer the different questions. An instruction manual 'Request for proof of paid tuition fees' is available at Studielink Step-by-step plans.

If the educational institution in question does not support sending a BBC via Studielink to Tilburg University, you will still have to indicate in Studielink that you want to pay with a BBC at Tilburg University. In addition, you will have to manually request a BBC from the other educational institution. The procedure to request a BBC differs per university or HBO institution. The other educational institution will email the BBC directly to Tilburg University.

If you would like to apply for a Proof of tuition fee payment from Tilburg University to enroll at another educational institution (in case not possible via Studielink), please fill out the online request form.

Frequently Asked Questions on Payment of Tuition Fees

Can I apply for a government loan?

Please read the DUO Student finance webpage to check whether you are entitled to receive student finance to (partly) cover your tuition fees.

What happens if there is a payment arrears?

If the university cannot deduct the tuition or weighted fee from the provided bank account or if the direct debit has been reversed by the bank account holder, a reminder e-mail requesting payment of the outstanding tuition or weighted fees will be sent via AcceptEmail.

You will have to transfer the due amount yourself, for which you can use the enclosed link in the AcceptEmail. If you fail to pay before the deadline, your Tilburg University account will be blocked at some point. If you still don't meet your payment obligation after that, your enrollment will be terminated and the claim will be passed on to a debt collection agency.

You can find more information on the Problems paying tuition / weighted fees webpage.

I am starting a Master's program in February. What is my tuition fee?

If you start a Master's program in February, you pay 7/12th of the tuition fee that applies to you (statutory or institutional tuition fee) in that academic year.

If you re-enroll for the next academic year, the amount of tuition fee is based on an enrollment for the entire academic year. If you deregister yourself during the academic year (for example after graduation), the tuition fee will be recalculated and you receive a refund of any overpaid tuition fee.

Examples:

You will start with the Master Law and Technology in February 2025 and you will need to pay the statutory fee. In that case, you pay 7/12 * €2,530 = €1,475.83 for the 2024-2025 academic year. For the 2025-2026 academic year, your tuition fee will be determined in due time.

You will start with the Master Law and Technology in February 2025 and you will need to pay the institutional fee. In that case, you pay 7/12 * €16,500 = €9,625 for the 2024-2025 academic year. For the 2025-2026 academic year, your tuition fee will be determined in due time.
