Workshop Job seeking skills: the interview

You have applied for a job, passed the first selection round and you are now invited to attend an interview. How should you prepare? How can you present yourself as effectively as possible? How do you highlight your strengths while casting any weaknesses in a positive light? These are some of the questions we shall answer during the interview skills workshop.

The workshop involves role-playing exercises based on the ‘behavioral interview’ now commonly used by employers in the Netherlands and elsewhere.

What will you learn?

Having completed this workshop, you will be able to:

  • prepare effectively for the interview
  • present yourself well
  • draw attention to your strengths
  • cast any weaknesses in a positive light
  • apply the STAR(R/T) interview method.

If you would like to take part in this workshop, please submit a sample application letter and your CV at least one week in advance. These should be accompanied by the text of the advertisement to which you are replying, or in the case of an open (unsolicited) application, information about the prospective employer organization. You can bring these documents to the Student Desk in person or email them to

If you would like advice about your application letter, come along to one of the walk-in consultation sessions which are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Further information can be found here.

Before taking part in this workshop, it is important that you are aware of your strengths and any areas in which improvement is required. If you are uncertain about either, you might like to consider taking the Talent Management course. Further details can be found here.
