Every year, new students and alumni are added to the Wall of Fame in the Sports Center for exceptional achievements they have made in top-level sports combined with their academic careers at Tilburg University. This year, Vice President of the Executive Board, Paulina Snijders, unveiled the new additions to the Wall of Fame during the Opening Academic Year 2022-2023. Alumnus (European and International Law) Joeri Bruschinski and Economics student Max Warmerdam received the honor of being added to the Wall of Fame, joining the illustrious company of champions.

Joeri received this honor because of his accomplishments on the water. As a rower, he has advanced to national top rowing through TSR Vidar. His record includes multiple national rowing titles, World Cup victories and podium finishes at World Championships. Joeri has left the boat and is now on shore to train and guide the next generation of rowers to become (inter)national top athletes.

Max Warmerdam spreads his time and attention between the college benches and the chessboard and does so very successfully. Grandmaster Max won the national title last year, succeeding among others grandmasters and greats Max Euwe, Jan Timman, Loek van Wely and Arish Giri. In addition, Max is sometimes asked to assist grandmasters at major events as a second. A Secondant is an advisor/coach during competitions. Usually a secondant is a more experienced chess player than the grandmaster being coached. Max is a rare exception that he is younger than the grandmaster he coaches. For example, Max was Jordan van Foreest's second player during his victory at the prestigious Tata steel tournament.
