Microsoft 365 for students

The collaborative platform Microsoft 365 is available for students. You will be able to collaborate more easily with fellow students and/or staff at Tilburg University when you have various up-to-date applications and facilities at your disposal.

Microsoft 365 apps

Tilburg University students have access to the following Office ProPlus facilities:

  • Outlook
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • OneNote
  • OneDrive

To approach these apps, go to the following start page: You can install the package on your student workplace as well as on 5 other devices.

Logging on

You log in with your Tilburg University username and password and you'll need to approve the sign in in the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Install Microsoft Authenticator app

You can do so when you first start using Microsoft 365 tools. You have to complete a number of steps the first time to set up the second verification method. You can then log on to the Microsoft 365 applications by means of the app. When you log on to one of the applications on your laptop, you will receive a notification on your smartphone via the Authenticator app to approve the log-on on your laptop.

Log-on frequency

The log-on frequency for Microsoft 365 applications is limited: as long as you work on the same desktop and exclusively use the desktop applications (installed on your computer, like Word, and your files in Windows Explorer), logging on is only necessary once every three weeks. In addition, you also need to log on after you log off or change your password. When you use the online versions in your browser, logging on is always necessary.

Personal data protection

MFA will make logging on considerably safer and, as a result, we will be less vulnerable to attacks. Furthermore, all data saved within the Microsoft 365 environment are stored in a datacenter inside the EU. These Microsoft datacenters where our data are stored meet GDPR requirements.
