Access to the network and use of systems
Everyone who is registered with the Student Administration of Tilburg University as a student, has a right of access to the computer network. The UvT user name, UvT e-mail address and UvT password are necessary for the use of various on-line facilities and are provided by the Student Administration. The computer network and systems can be used at the workstations set up for that purpose at Tilburg University. For students, in the Library and in some laboratories elsewhere on campus, separate, integrated workstations have been set up. The right to use the computer network and systems will lapse as soon as a person is no longer registered with the Student Administration.
Username, email address and password
A statement will be issued personally to each new user of the computer network, listing his/her UvT user name, e-mail address and password. From that time, he/she will be their holder. The holder can use the computer network only after the UvT user name, e-mail address and password have been provided. In connection with processing logistics, access to the computer network will be opened 1 to 2 working days after issue.
Change username or email address
After issue, it will no longer be possible to change your UvT e-mail address, if the change is not due to a change to civil status (marriage or divorce) or a name change pursuant to a Royal Decree. In the aforementioned cases, the holder must address the Head of the Student Administration in writing.
Responsible use
From the time the UvT user name, e-mail address and password are provided, the holder will be held liable for the consequences that can arise from his/her use of the computer network and the systems made available on it. The first time the user uses the computer network and the systems made available on it will be considered as a contract by which he/she consents to be bound by the provisions of the 'Tilburg University Code of Conduct for e-mail, internet and telephone facilities'.
In spite of the Tilburg University security measures, students and staff sometimes get an e-mail with the question to pass on their username and password. Never pass these one. Tilburg University will never ask for them.
