Student satisfaction stabilizes despite uncertainties

Published: 31st May 2022 Last updated: 31st May 2022

Although the current academic year has also been significantly influenced by corona and the accompanying restrictive measures for students, student satisfaction at Tilburg University remained at about the same level as in 2021. This is evident from the results of the National Student Survey (NSE) 2022, which were released this week.

Of the 12 underlying themes that Tilburg University students have assessed, there was an increase in student satisfaction on six of them and a decrease on five of them in comparison with 2021. The differences were all relatively small, except for a significant increase in student satisfaction on Remote Learning.

Nationwide image

The overall developments at Tilburg University are in line with the nationwide picture. Because of corona – and probably also because some methodology changes in the NSE of 2021 - there was a clear decrease in student satisfaction between the 2019 and 2021 editions, but in 2022 student satisfaction more or less stabilized. In 2022, 77.8% of the Tilburg University students are (very) satisfied with their study program. This is 71.5% among all participating students in Dutch Higher Education and 78.5% among university students only.

In comparison with students of other universities, Tilburg University students are very satisfied with examinations and assessments. The connection to the labour market seems to be the main area of attention. It is important for students to get a realistic picture of their future field of work.

Tilburg University is very pleased with this great involvement of its students and will use the results of the NSE to (further) increase student satisfaction.
