Students participating in a lecture

Where can I find my course schedule? What can I expect my classes to be like?

You can find more detailed information on the Study Guide in the Course Catalog. Course- and exam schedules can be found in the Course Catalog and in MyTimetable.

Where can I find my schedule?

Check the webpage How do I view my schedule? for more info.

How do I know if I need to prepare for a lecture? And can I ask questions about the lecture?

You can see in your digital learning environment Canvas if you have homework.

Each instructor will indicate if and how you can ask questions. This may be different for each lecture.

What is the difference between lectures and classses?

At the university, you are often taught through lectures and classes.

  • During a lecture, the lecturer presents a story to a large group of students.
  • During working lectures the groups are smaller and you are expected to participate actively, for example by completing assignments and asking questions.
What should I do if I am not able to attend a lecture or class?

You don't have to sign out anywhere. Whether or not you come is your own responsibility. For lectures with compulsory attendance you have to cancel with the lecturer or subject coordinator. Usually you are allowed to abstain once. If you cannot make it to a tutorial, try to arrange that you can take part in another tutorial (just once).

Many lecturers also put their lectures and assignments on Canvas, so you can still view the information there.

Which lectures can I watch online?

Each teacher decides themselves whether a lecture can be viewed online. He or she will publish the link of the recorded lecture via Canvas.

Do I need to log in for an online course?

For most of the online lectures you need to log in with your Tilburg University username and password.

What is the yearly schedule of an academic year?

When do the lectures start and when do you have exams? You can find this information on the webpage Academic Calendar for students

Can I attend college if I haven't paid my tuition yet?

Officially, no. You have to hand in your registration forms and pay your tuition fees or authorize them before September 1. But if you did that at the last minute and due to the processing time were not registered in time, you can of course already go to the college, otherwise you would miss too much.
