Students in the library

Print, copy and scan for students

There are 90 multi-functional printers (MFP) on campus. With these printers you can print, copy or scan documents in black and white or color. You can send a print job from a student desktop, your own laptop/notebook, or your smartphone. You sign up at a printer using your Tilburg University card or with the QR code scanner in the Canon Campus Print app on your smartphone. The printers have a clarifying instruction sticker on top, which enables you to get started quickly.

Go to the nearest MFP. There are two ways to sign up at a printer:

  • Enter your Tilburg University card on the card reader which is integrated in the printers. When a pass is offered for the first time you must connect your pass to your user name (for this you can follow the instructions on the printer screen). You can connect only one card per account. When the card is connected, you can start printing, copying or scanning.
  • Open the Canon Campus Print app on your smartphone and go to the QR code scanner. Scan the QR code on the printer display.

Don’t forget to log out when you finished your assignment at the printer.

To print, choose the print option within the program (Word, Excel etc.). Select the right printer and click ok. Your print job will then be processed according to the standard settings. If you wish to adjust the standard settings, you can choose properties (in the print menu). Go to any printer on campus and enter your Tilburg University card. Impact of chip shortage on Tilburg University print services

Read more on the consequences >>

At the moment there is a worldwide shortage of chips. This also has an impact on our print services within Tilburg University. It is expected that this situation will continue for at least the first six to eight months of 2022.

Empty toners

We use so-called "smart toners" in all Canon multifunctionals. These give a timely signal when they are about to run out. This allows us to replace the toners in time, before a machine stops working. This monitoring function in the toners requires computer chips which are not currently available. For this reason, we now have to temporarily use toners without this "smart" functionality. As a result, we can no longer predict when a toner will need to be replaced. It will therefore happen more often that a machine temporarily stops working due to an empty toner.

Extra checks

To minimise machine downtime, we will also check toners during our paper runs. Naturally, we will respond quickly if a machine reports an empty toner.
