Most important rules midterms and exams

During the academic year, you will take part in numerous midterms and exams. Various rules and guidelines are applicable to the examination process, and we would like to inform you about those. The most import rules and guidelines are listed below.

Please make sure that you:

  1. Register on time and in the prescribed manner for the midterms and exams that you want to take part in. Check the webpage written exams and midterms for more information on registration.
  2. Go to the correct examination hall and that you take place on the seat that has been assigned to you.
  3. Arrive on time for your midterms and exams. Bear in mind that there can be delays in public transport or on the road.
  4. Take a valid identification document with you. You can identify yourself with your Tilburg University student card, passport, ID-card or drivers license.
  5. Read the cover sheet of the midterm or the exam carefully. The cover sheet contains important information, for example regarding the type of calculator you are allowed to use, or whether or not you are allowed to use a dictionary.
  6. Switch off your mobile phone and place it in your bag that has been closed and placed at one of the sides of the examination hall. You are not allowed to have a mobile phone within reach, even if it has been switched off.
  7. Are not wearing a watch or a smartwatch. Your watch or smartwatch has to be placed in your bag that has been closed and placed at one of the sides of the examination hall.
  8. Do not have any crib notes or cheat sheets with you. The proctor cannot determine whether the information contained in your notes is relevant for the midterm or exam you are taking part in. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you do not take any notes with you that could be mistaken for a cheat sheet.

If you follow the above-mentioned rules, you will avoid problems. If you do not follow the rules, this can have unfortunate consequences. Possible sanctions include that the midterm or exam you have taken part in will not be send to the teacher for grading, or that you will be excluded from taking part in upcoming midterms or exams.

The rules and guidelines mentioned above do not constitute an exhaustive list and no rights can be derived from this list. Therefore, make sure that you are well-informed about the Rules and Guidelines of the Examination Board TiSEM. If any of the rules or unclear, please contact someone who can clarify the rules for you.
